Product description

One of the most recognized monuments within London is Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress, more commonly known as the Tower of London. This historical monument sits on the north bank of the Thames River. The Tower has been used as a fortress, royal palace, and a prison for high status and royal prisoners (like Anne Boleyn, Queen Elizabeth I's biological mother). The Tower has also served as a place for executiona nd torture, an armoury, a treasury, zoo, the Royal Mint, a public records office, observatory, and since 1202 has been the home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. At least six ravens are known to reside in or atop the tower, and have never been removed due to supersticion. Charles II believed that if the ravens were to leave the Tower, the White Tower, monarchy, and the entire kingdom would fall. To prevent their flying away, the raven's wings are clipped. They are cared for by a Yeomen Ravenmaster, and all raven inhabitants of the Tower are named and their ages noted. There have been many famous people imprisoned within the famous Tower of London, and it is also considered the most haunted building in England. The ghost of Anne Boleyn is said to have been seen in the chapel of St Peter-ad-Vincula, where she is buried, carrying her head under one arm. Other famous ghosts include Henry VI, Lady Jane Grey, Margaret Pole and the Princes in the Tower. Shakespeare's play, Richard III, uses scenes that take place in the Tower.Teapot holds 2 cups (about 20oz), and is not recommended for microwave or dishwasher use.

2001 [Paul] Smith was the first designer to be asked to design a collection for Thomas Goode, one of the most famous manufacturers of fine bone china holding three Royal Warrants. The result was an exclusive breakfast collection in the finest bone china based on Smith's multistripe design. The diversity of colours and the complexity of the stripes pattern were especiallyy difficult to recreate on china as the colours have to be built up and fired one at a time. [Design Museum] Hello, My Name Is Paul Smith An exhibition at the Design Museum, November 2013 to June 2014 Looking to the future as well as celebrating his career to date, the exhibition will reference Paul Smith's influences and fashion designs, charting the rise of one of the world's leading fashion brands. teapot for Susan Peterson
teapot for Susan Peterson
Made for Susan Peterson at her Boulder studio in '96 or so. Here, I needed to stretch a little after throwing so many symmetrical spheres. I call this the pavilion style. Note the tip of the spout. It's a style I've seen on some fine premodern china teapots. teapot_1_s.p._boulder_gc.jpg

Been playing in the pantry again today, way too cold outside. From my paternal grandmother by way of my Mom. The hallmark says Titian Ware Hand Painted. The Perugia. Patent 70566. Royal Ivory England. Est 1657 Despite all its fancy hallmarks and names (Perugia was where Titian painted in Italy) it looks like you can buy one of these for about 10 bucks on eBay. Definitely crockery, not fine china. Whew, don't have to move it back from the edge of the shelf. :) Have a matching teapot and creamer, and they are definitely fun to use when I my church circle gathers for tea and talk. Probably made around 1900.
